In ancient Egypt, cats symbolized divine protection, fertility and grace. Because of their dual nature, they represented both the nurturing life-giving aspects of the home and the fierce, protective energy of the Gods. Cats were a living representations of deities. The most famous being Bastet, a Goddess of the home, fertility, and childbirth, often depicted as a woman with a cat's head. Bastet was originally a fierce warrior, a sun-weilding lioness, a terrifying Goddess who represented the fierce heart of the sun.
When cats stare into what seems the nothingness or even at you it is said that they are performing their own energy protection ritual we may never come to full understand. A cat's purr vibrates at a frequency of between 25-150 Hz. This Rapid rhythmic vibration has been shown in bioacoustic studies to promote bone health, reduce stress and generally aid in healing.
